In the Perceptual Motor Development Laboratory, we are interested in how people’s bodies and environmental demands influence cognitive and motor functioning across the lifespan (from infant to old age). The mission of the Perceptual Motor Development Lab is to investigate the fundamental motor skills development, cognitive development, independent living skills and coordination in infants, young children, adolescents and aging with and without disabilities as well as the impact of physical interventions on motor and cognitive development.

Our research integrates the study of perception, cognition and action by using kinematic analysis, Active electroencephalography and qualitative and quantitative analysis. Our overall research goal is to understand the acquisition of fundamental motor skills and explore how these findings integrate with theories of motor learning and rehabilitation.
